Kerala DC retires, charge given to deputy DC Ravi Menon

100145RaviMenon.jpeg After four years service as drugs controller for Kerala, B. Hariprasad retired on January 31, 2017. Government has given the charge to the deputy drugs controller, Revi S Menon. Menon was the deputy director in charge of licensing with the drugs control administration for the last four years.
 
An official with more than 26 years of experience in the department, Revi Menon has initiated several prosecutions against malpractices in the industry. His prosecution case against Amway’s dietary supplements distributed in Kerala by their sales team got national attention in 2001.

A post graduate in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs, Revi Menon joined the department of drugs control as a junior drug inspector in the year 1991.  He was instrumental in completing the construction of the lab testing building at Ernakulam and later commencement of its operation in 2012, when he was the additional drugs controller there.

The regular post of the drugs controller of the state is now vacant with the retirement of Hariprasad who was also the licensing authority.
